U and I in sUIcide
How WE can address the Crisis in Youth sUIcide
THIS WORKSHOP IS A FREE CASCWA EVENT !
CASCWA Southern Section is hosting a "Phil Kauble" workshop on Friday, February 1st in Vista, California.
The Center for Disease Control has stated that suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth between the ages of 10 and 24, resulting in approximately 4,600 lives lost each year. In California, in 2015, 495 youth, ages 5 to 24, died from suicide. Twenty three of them were younger than 14.
Section 215 of the California Education Code mandates that the Governing Board of any LEA that serves pupils in grades seven to twelve, inclusive, adopt a policy on pupil suicide prevention, inter-vention, and postvention. This forum will address how schools can meet this mandate.
Registration begins at 8:30 AM and the program will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
The location is the Vista Innovation Center, 836 Olive Ave, Vista, CA 92083 (parking in the back only.)
Within a short time, we will be placing specific information on this web page regarding the presenters and workshop materials.
We will need to confirm registration just prior to the event. If you are registering a guest, we will be asking for their names and their email addresses.
