Southern Section’s Fall Workshop

October 25, 2023

8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Double Tree Hotel in Buena Park

7000 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620 US     (844) 209-2432

We are living in challenging times for all in the fields of student services.  CASCWA's Southern Section's Executive Board recently met to discuss possible topics for their annual fall workshop.  Topics, such as, current legislation, LGBQT. Discipline Code/defiance, bathrooms, postings, internet, front page items, alternative educational placement, misinformation and many more topics quickly filled the meeting.

At that point in the meeting, it was decided that the workshop would be focused on today's "HOT TOPICS" and delivering sound helping advice from recognized experts in the fields of student services.  We hope that you find this workshop  to be meaningful and that it will directly relate to your daily challenges!

Workshop Information

Your world in student services is filled with phone calls, emails, meetings, new laws to implement, and other duties as assigned.  You face exceptional challenges and need to have the information necessary to face today’s challenges and be on firm ground.

Southern Section will be holding their annual fall workshop on October 25th at the Double Tree Hotel in Buena Park.  The goal of the workshop is to deliver up-to-date important information on today’s CWA “Hot Topics” that will help all in the fields of student services.  This will be great time for your “Q & A’s.”

Confirmed Speakers are Chris Keeler from Fagen, Friedman and Fulfrost, Dr. Kelly Barnes, Associate General Counsel I, Los Angeles Unified School District, and  Mike Ilic, Retired, Student Services Director, Corona-Norco Unified School District.  Each are experts in the fields of CWA.  Details on their presentations will soon be released in an email and posted on our website.  Also,  Erik Elorriaga from SI&A has agreed to host a table at the workshop.

We will be sending out a speaker information update as we put together the program and receive their speaker bio's.

This will be an “in person” event.  Cost is $100 per person.  Payment can be made through AffiniPay, check or district purchase order.  Checks or PO's can be made payable to "CASCWA Southern Section" and mailed to:   CASCWA Fall Workshop, P.O. Box 4222, Orange, CA  92863-4222.
